Trigger Warning | Poem | Free Verse
Warning! I am about to say something really uncomfortable.
If I let one off,
Am I wrong?
Causing people,
To sing songs,
Is free speech really free,
Comes at a cost,
Like a boss,
Continuing life,
We can’t pause,
Because life,
Will go on,
After the first second,
Then the next minute,
I hope you get it,
You can’t comment on life,
The world take a life,
Are we barred?
Can we let loose,
Can we make moves,
Where can we even go?
It’s only fleeing leaving the scene,
Without creating change,
Turning a new page,
It seems going ghost,
Is a trigger warning,
Leaving soon,
I just may not come back.
*Words hold so much power, but we are not free to use them, as others abuse them.

Obviously,
I want more,
But where to?
Going in a path,
I never dared to,
If I am the bluetooth device,
What am I paired to?
Disconnected from our real lives,
Something I never cared to,
So so,
Where to now,
What’s the goal?
Frozen in time,
Until I have broken ice,
Here goes my tears, hold,
Onwards and forward,
Into the distance of all possibilities,
The goal is to grab ahold of my reality.

Running off adrenaline,
Where is the end,
So I can bend it,
Lay my life down on the line,
Never could I end it,
Its healthy to reach new highs,
For the lows are so sinking,
Almost drowning in stress,
Had to ask my brain,
What the hell were you thinking,
I had to ink up,
Pen ready,
Write some new verses,
In a different category,
No going to worry,
Until my fuel fades,
Then I will be stalling,
Falling from the sky in my new plane,
Surfing on the wings,
Into a new wave,
Crash landing in new way,
Tell everybody it’s a wrap,
In God we trust,
But I do things.

How much further,
What is the agenda,
Is there really an opening,
Can I come and enter,
I left without a word said,
Type mad though,
I felt I was the in a father role,
Dad mode,
When did these lies come alive,
Was it the way I made you feel inside,
Or could it be that I wasn’t there,
You probably thought I never cared,
I guess that began the cycle,
Lost in your head and emotions,
On idle,
I prefer to break the mold,
I don’t want to be cold,
I feel we can get back to a better place,
Just me and you,
As I leave the world on hold,
To focus on you.

Still sleeping,
Next to me,
Rosey cheeks,
In a position so unique,
Big spoon to your little,
How sweet,
A leaned in to kiss,
Who said fantasies,
Don’t exist,
Must have never had,
A peaceful night,
With someone as precious,
A love,
A comfort felt,
A secure place,
Just to lay your head,
Feeling safe.
