In The Wake of Freedom Day | Spoken Word Poetry

I spent a long time chasing to be free,
The only place I knew of being,
Was being me,
I have been tired,
And been tired more of lying,
That inside of me,
Was slowing dying,
Drying off,
After I got rained on,
I found a day,
To stick my name on,
I fought hard,
And ran myself,
Into the ground,
To finally have the pride,
To wear the damn crown.

In the name of freedom.

  1. I can feel the struggle, the exhaustion, and the triumph in every line. There’s a deep sense of perseverance, like you’ve been through hell and back just to claim your own identity, your freedom and your crown. It’s like a whole journey wrapped in a few lines. If this is personal, I hope you’re feeling that pride because I have a feeling it’s well-earned. 👑
