FREE VERSE FRIDAY – RABBIT FOOT

Posted on December 4, 2015December 4, 2015 by Jixi Fox

FREE VERSE FRIDAY

rabbit

Sitting at home,
Deciding if I am going to step out,
It’s Friday everyday,
That means them checks are well out,
I dressed up looking clean,
Y’all need to cut the mess out,
Air Yeezy’s on my feet,
As soon as work done let out,
I am off for some fun,
But I ain’t playing no games,
I am feeling lucky today,
Ladies need to come my way,
I got my rabbit foot,
And got me an appetite,
Show me something good,
Aiming to have one hell of a night.

Did you enjoy the verse of the day?

SPOKEN WORD THURSDAY – WHY DO THEY HATE US?

Posted on December 3, 2015December 3, 2015 by Jixi Fox

why do you hate us - poetry jixifox poetic spoken word

I am about to go off on a rant,
Because you stank,
Hating on my lifestyle,
But don’t even know the facts,
Can’t even calculate your own hate,
You suck at math,
I trash you with my politically correct self,
Some days I feel like I am in hell,
But I hold in my wrath,
Everyone is war craze,
Putting up guns,
But this shiz ain’t fun,
For we losing bodies,
We losing lives,
Why do innocent people got to die?
Why do you hate us?
Maybe because you ain’t us,
Rivaling our beliefs,
Messing with our security,
Just because we want to be free,
Please,
Stop the violence,
Help create a safer way,
I want to see the future,
Maybe not through my eyes,
But through the eyes of our kids,
The next generation.

POETIC ART WEDNESDAY – FEARLESSNESS

Posted on December 2, 2015December 2, 2015 by Jixi Fox

Faceless_Composition_by_larafairie

I feared success,
I lived in misery,
I needed an escape,
Making my past,
History.

I will change,
I will erase the pain,
I won’t be the same,
Living my life to the fullest,
No opportunity left in vain.

TURN YOUR LIGHT DOWN LOW
Bob Marley feat. Lauryn Hill

#100

Lyrics:

Turn your lights down low
And pull your window curtains;
Oh, let Jah moon come shining in –
Into our life again,
Sayin’: ooh, it’s been a long, long (long, long, long, long) time;
I kept this message for you, girl,
But it seems I was never on time;
Still I wanna get through to you, girlie,
On time – on time.
I want to give you some love (good, good lovin’);
I want to give you some good, good lovin’ (good, good lovin’)….

“Turn Your Lights Down Low” is a song by Bob Marley & The Wailers from their 1977 album Exodus.

Pointless

Posted on November 11, 2015November 11, 2015 by Jixi Fox

pointless

I don’t see why I cry out loud at times,
Maybe I am just trying to trick my mind,
To think,
Maybe I will change,
Okay,
No, not maybe,
I will change,
But still do the same things,
Pointless I know,
Do I want to be the same or grow?
Do I want to be known?
Or do the same old things I have done before,
Maybe I am crazy,
Or maybe I am just lazy,
Why do I say the things I say?
Maybe I want for things to change,
I think too much at times,
I need to do what I say,
And make use of time,
To change.

Words Exist Instead of Tears

Posted on November 10, 2015November 10, 2015 by Jixi Fox

tears

I can’t hold the pain in,
I write down my feelings,
I don’t need to go crazy,
I just got to express myself as amazing,
We all have stories,
We all have ups and downs,
I use to cry to sleep,
Now my tears on written down,
On paper,
For my peers,
For my friends,
And my fears,
I am stronger with a pen,
I am more through my words,
To help other’s feel free again.
Be Free…
