THE THOUGHT PROCESS
Okay, so the mission was simple. Eliminate emails ASAP from a cluttered inbox. Task Level: moderate, based on the type of music and hyper focus level you are in at the moment. I clearly understood the mission, after have a productivity training session at the gym, (aka working out). I always laugh at the fact you can always tell a better story based on the words you use and add a lot more details to drag a story to create an unique experience to the reader. Having said all that, short form, I went to the gym, fell good, was super hype, came home and figured I would delete a bunch of emails.

A BIT OF BACK STORY
Gmail is my preferred email service of choose. It has it’s pros and cons, but I have always loved google, since it came out. Now my inbox has always been full, except for my work emails, they stay on “0”. Everything is read and sorted, I dislike seeing the numbers of unread emails in a inbox. I pay attention to details and label them based on importance. Oh yea by the way, if you live in an area of lot of population, trust me when I tell you, there are many people out there, that will pay you just to manage and organize their inbox. I have done it, and it’s good way to network and help other especially busy people, parents, business owners and creators. If you pursue this, thank me later. 🙂
THE MISSION
I have an inbox, I overly abuse. I am not abusive, but this email inbox, gets stuffed. So I have to break it all done in two numbers on the goal/mission.
Start of the Process
ALL MAIL = 112,000 Emails. (Yep, the number is correct, your eyes are not deceiving you).
UNREAD MAIL = 59,000 Emails. (Also no lie there.)
The Goal was to get to 50,000 unread emails in 20 minutes. That was coming from 59,000 unread emails.
THE PROCESS
Gmail is a tricky little sucker, so just know they way they sort your mail is weird. Promotions & Social Tabs act as almost different entities. So deleting a promotion email, in which most people email has is filled up with, trust me I know.
So here is the laziness part of it all, I am not going to full explain the process, but the quick answer is…click on the icon at the end of search mail on top of your browser, then choose words and email addresses you are getting mass emails from. Hit Search, and select all, review, and also hit, “select all conversations that match this search”, and click delete. Then start watching those emails GO GO GO AWAY.

THE RESULTS
ALL MAIL: 74,804 Emails
UNREAD MAIL: 39,900
I am so happy for these results. I had got to 49,000, but I wanted more and more, so I went for 30 minutes instead of 20, and bingo. I feel like I won a championship. 🙂
This post wasn’t going. tobe a post for today, but I was so inspired to let others into my world, so I spent 30 minutes deleting emails and 30 minutes writing the post to share with you. Another productivity hour of my life. Weeee.
TRICKS & HELPFUL TIPS
- Always go to your spam, sort and delete. Look for reoccuring places they are coming from and add to the block list.
- Always go to your TRASH, and clear it. For all emails you delete is not deleted until you go to trash and delete your trash. This similar to using your Windows & Mac computers as well as you iPhone (deleted photos), trust me, they are still there. So go and look. Thank me later.
