An Artist’s Struggle of 2011, Jixi Fox

It’s been a very tough year being myself on a creative side.  I have idea after idea not to see them produce into results.  The pain of not being recognized for my true talents has been getting to me a little bit.  Entertaining others and making sure everyone has a good time is what I what to do and is very good at but I haven’t gotten the chance to do so.

I can’t say the whole year was a bust, even though a fighting through my infamously known, “Fall Curse of Fail Productivity” ummm that’s just some name I made up to represent that every fall project I have had for the last 3 years were failures.  When I say failure, I don’t mean of the creative side, but  the deliver and being ready on time.

I am ready to break curse, I am ready to be me, I am ready to overcome my struggles and unleash my creativity, to entertain the world.  My album is on the way and so is my book.

The Burna Effect EP (music album)

Elementary Beginnings: Soulful Jazz Funk

Mystic Mirrors (poetry book)

Thanks to everyone who supports me, I really appreciate it.

I Can’t – Jixi Fox [#Poetry]

Jixi-Fox-Poetry-Tuesday-Series

Jixi-Fox-Poetry-Tuesday-Series

I can’t, as the forbidden words echos from my lips,

I am reminded of a promise I made to myself as a little kid,

who was a nobody. an outsider to the world every chance he got he was looking in,

I told myself I can’t is not a real word, it blanket of air that don’t exist,

I can’t what is that?  Who says that?  What doesn’t that even mean?

People rely on me to make the world spin in their eyes

Crying words of pains and favors, while I can’t even shed tears from my own eyes when I cry,

I can’t be the only one who tries his hardest, to not leave burdens on upon anyone else but myself,

I don’t even ask for favors, For when I do people store them away leaving them to dry on shelves,

So if I can do for me, why can’t you do for you,

Damn I use the word can’t again, I am going to rephrase it to say, what can you do for you?

I challenge myself everyday to create possibilities and a direct line of escape,

For all my unknowns I try to prepare myself at all times not to choke or to faint,

I can’t be the only one who don’t want to echo those words,

I can’t, I can’t, I can’t,

I always looks forward to say what I can do,

For if I can do for me and you can’t do for you,

What are you even on this earth to do?

Life Is But A Dream – Jixi Fox [#Poetry]

stripper pole

It’s never easy but we live it,
It’s always in our face so we grill it,
We make up dreams, to create possibilities,
We struggle through life with responsibilities,
Big house, green lawn and a dog we envision it,
Credit card bills, terrible jobs, no degrees we living it,
We want to close our eyes to see our fantasies,
We have to open them sometimes to hate our reality,
Successful business, lovely marriage, health is what we want,
Fatty Burgers, expensive cars, and material things is what we bought,
Why can’t we just live our dreams, we aim to create,
Life is but a dream, real life is something we can’t escape,
We live we die we repeat, the curse we hope to break,
Dreams live on forever, our lives has an expiration date,
Life is an equation we try to solve even create our own codes,
Dreams stay infinite, we live our whole lives fighting for them, life becomes the foe.

(*Note (backstory)): I was thinking about that song Row Your Boat, one of the classic songs or melody while growing up, and I thought about how it adapted to life.  I thought about how we row row row our lives down the stream, thinking things will be merry and happy, but actually Life is But A Dream, not everyone gets to live the life they wanted.

Cake – Jixi Fox [#SpokenWord]

Chocolate Cake Flourless (1)

Image via Wikipedia

Baking in the oven, girl your pants are hot,
I like your cake, thinking of it keeps me warm everyday,
Bouncing all about going up going down,
I like your cake, its worth the chase so I can play,
Moving right to left, girl you took away my breath
I like your cake, I fiend for it today, tomorrow, everyday,
When I look at you its all I can see,
I like your cake, the more I touch it, I just cant stay away,
In my hands I love the feel, in this world its all i need,
I like your cake, girl keep it in my life, dont ever take it away,
Whether dark, yellow, white or brown, I love it nice and round,
I like your cake, its beauty I must savor it, so good to taste.

As The Page Turns, Amateur Night – Jixi Fox [#Poetry]

Bowery Poetry Club

I going to turn the page and see what I have done,

I don’t bust no shots, I need not carry a gun,

What I do is party hard and have me some fun,

I ain’t scare of nobody, so I ain’t got to run,

All of my life I been happy like 5 times,

When I was about 9 I started to write rhymes,

Most were jokes I guess it was just a sign,

When I get older and bolder I am going to shine,

Like it’s a dark night and a shooting star appears,

The only things nappy is my weed and my hair,

It’s once upon a time blah blah I don’t care,

If my moms see this it’s probably gonna disappear,

I hate to be fake but I like fishing on the lake,

My girl said she wanted cake, I gave her some flour and said go bake,

Why should I be bothered with troubled people for Christ sake,

That’s what I wonder, like wonder bread in which don’t taste so great.

(*Note (backstory)): This is a very old poem I wrote, mixing and match thoughts, as I was just an amateur with no direction but the goal of knowing I will be better and great down the line.  As I keep writing and my pages turn, I will learn and pass my amateur nights.

Miss Brown Sugar – Jixi Fox – [#Poetry]

Jixi-Fox-Poetry-Tuesday-Series

Jixi-Fox-Poetry-Tuesday-Series

Interlude:

While searching in the cupboard for something sweet, I ask myself, where is my Brown Sugar?

.

Patiently waiting for the day to say,

That love kindly came my way,

And stayed with me when I pray,

For it not to up and leave me abandoned, a stray,

Ok, batter up I am ready for the pitch,

A girl likely not to turn out to be a bitch,

Enriched with qualities and be open for discussions,

Even if they are hard to bear or have repercussions,

Where is my love, my sweetheart, my senorita,

My divine, headstrong, independent mamasita,

To be continued…

I am quite clever, cool, calm and collected,
I read my everyone’s every motion, their every step,
I am sly, cunning and awesomely charming,
I can attack in any which way without any warning.

The Grace of Action – Jixi Fox – [#poetry]

Jixi-Fox-Poetry-Tuesday-Series

Jixi-Fox-Poetry-Tuesday-Series

The Grace of Actions

The day was brick

Frozen stiff as a stick

Couldn’t move my eye lids

Not even for a wink

I needed some heat

To get some relief

But I could hardly speak

Body was strong but now weak

I need that tender touch

Even a little brush

This girl’s arms I must clutch

So excited I felt the rush

I am in the mood for romance

Therefore asked the girl to dance

Hopes are high wishing for a chance

To obtain and advance, somewhere in her pants

But that’s not on my mind

Even if so it’s not a crime

This girl is a dime

So pure and so divine

Every moment is crucial

This feeling is not something I am use to

In a way I feel quite unusual

But I guess this is how I should

For this is my Grace of Actions
