When I Think About Love

Posted on April 2, 2025April 3, 2025 by Jixi Fox

A Poem About Love

Knowing how and when to show up,
That is the key,
But the mind wonders widely,
When is someone going to pick me,
To share and care,
And never fear,
But am I asking for too much?
I just want someone to be there.

Hey everyone, I just wanted to create a mini-series to celebrate National Poetry Writing Month. I figure this will be a unique addition to my writing style, making it a little more pop and lighthearted.

I hope you like it; bye. 🙂

Closing Out The Day | Spoken Word Poetry

Posted on March 20, 2025March 22, 2025 by Jixi Fox

SPOKEN WORD

Life is such a joy,
I deploy down different avenues,
To stay the same,
Is going insane,
I choose what I truly want to do,
Like take flights and chill,
Or eat sandwiches while paying bills,
Things hit differently,
But vicariously,
People live through me,
That’s why I can’t stop telling stories,
For everyday away,
Feels like I left the world neglected,
Like days upon days,
So I say to you,
Even if don’t get to you early,
I will will get you at the closing of the day.

*Note: Stay humble and engaged.

Who Created The Box That You Live In | Free Verse Poetry

Posted on March 14, 2025March 14, 2025 by Jixi Fox

FREE VERSE POETRY

Who created the box that you live in,
Are you truly alive or just blinking,
Are you ready to break free,
I am talking about everybody,
Not just me,
I flee,
My mind run astray,
Sometimes I want to go out,
And just play,
Slay those thoughts,
That were given to me,
So I can call the shots,
Now everyone waiting on me,
So I say,
If you truly trying break out,
You can always figure way.

Nope, Didn’t Go Accordingly To The Plan | Spoken Word Poetry

Posted on March 13, 2025March 13, 2025 by Jixi Fox

Spoken Word Poetry

Him: ” Hey you, there in the car. Don’t worry I am not asking for money.”
Me: (with a big piece of fish in both hands minding my own business).
Him: “Hey buy me a coffee, Yo”
Me: “I don’t have the ability to assist you at the moment”
Him: “You have the ability to stuff your face though!”

I got caught eating,
Not sleeping,
It was just Thursday,
It wasn’t even the weekend,
Pigging out on Jamaican food,
While the car was in the park,
Starving to eat,
Helping my grandmom’s how to walk,
Rookie noob without a clue,
Knocked on the window,
Wish I left him on read,
But instead I rolled the windows,
In came the common lie,
Like fireworks, 4th of July,
I didn’t want to violate,
I don’t spill hate,
But in New York City,
It will come to you anyway,
So I had inspiration to write,
Hear is what I wanted to say,
That I kept inside,

Mannnnnnn,
If you don’t move from my car,
Now you got wanting to write these bars,
I am know that living in New York City is hard,
But don’t get at me, unless you want us to go to war,

Mannnnnnn,
If you don’t move from my car,
Now you got wanting to write 16 bars,
I am know that living in the city is hard,
But pulling up on wrong, wont get you far.

Every feelings in my mind,
All I wanted was to roast him,
I got a liking for words,
I am about to expose him,
I kept it simple and honest,
But all he wanted to play victim,
And for me to feel sorry,
He couldn’t read the room,
Cause he didn’t know how,
I am going leave it there,
My words had he taking a bow.

*Note: Yea, so I wrote a subtle react piece to this unruly guy in New York City. At the time I really wanted to violate because of the disrespect, but my mother raised right, so I leave him unchecked. Now if it was a battle rap competition, I would have went crazy on him. He was just having a bad day, that led to a bad response.

All in all, we all have bad days. Be stay, humble and kind. But don’t be rude.

Crashing Out Running From The Cops | Free Verse Poetry

Posted on March 7, 2025March 7, 2025 by Jixi Fox

FREE VERSE POETRY

Tires screamin’ like they got a death wish,
Red and blue lights flashin’ like a DJ setlist.
Sirens singing my name like I signed a deal,
But I ain’t pulling over I just like the thrill,
Foot heavy like my sins, my engine talking back,
Car making screeching sounds like it’s caught in a trap,
I did the math, the further I go the more time I got to do,
I can’t stop, I won’t stop, there is no time for curfew,

I ain’t no criminal, I just love to escape,
Road stretch long like the years in my case.
The highway my canvas, my whip is the brush,
Painting my freedom with tire marks and dust,
I hit the clutch, shifting gears,
People crying cuz I am ill,
Tell them wipe their tears,
I split traffic like Moses, I am feeling rich,
Running from the law like I am dodging a glitch,
They radio for backup, I radio to God,
Praying how I am driving stay defying the odds.
Skyline glowing’, my future unclear,
But freedom looks fire in the rearview mirror.

The Story

Everyday I feel like I am in a high speed chase, ducking the cars, let me car fly over 100. Whether in the car or just walking, as long as I have music, I feel my mind is moving 1000 miles an hour.

How To Dance With Wolves | Spoken Word Poetry

Posted on March 6, 2025March 6, 2025 by Jixi Fox

Spoken Word Poetry

Laying them down with Anesthesia,
Telling ‘em don’t grab on my freaking T-shirt,
For it’s when you think I am sheep,
That I show you the guy you ain’t ready to meet.

I walk in cool low profile, numbers in check,
A handshake firm, but with a hustler’s flex.
They whisper in corners, trying to measure my worth,
But I’ve been cashing out before they knew I was on their turf.

They want me to blend, they want me to bow,
Smile for the meetings; nod at the clowns.
Dress code strict, but my mind run free,
Tie can’t choke what was born to breathe.

They preach company culture, a scripted facade,
Talking like leaders but moving like frauds.
They chase titles, I chase equity,
They build cubicles, I build legacy.

You think I’m the quiet one, just here to comply?
Nah, I been clocking the patterns, I see through the lies.
You waiting for a paycheck while I’m flipping the stakes,
Climbing the ladder? I’m aiming buy the place.

Dancing with wolves? Man, I lead the pack,
Walk into the room, make silence collapse.
You think that I am prey? That’s your first mistake,
I don’t run with the herd, I make the earth quake.

Shoot, little did they know, I been raised by the wild,
My instincts sharp, my style versatile.

Why Does My Sins Reject Me? | Haiku | Poetry

Posted on March 5, 2025March 5, 2025 by Jixi Fox

It is one of those,
deadly sins, i am locked out,
They won’t let me in.

Sometimes you outgrow your sins. You are a new body, but you can’t pick back up the bad habits.

Just Dunk It | Spoken Word Poetry

Posted on February 27, 2025February 28, 2025 by Jixi Fox

If I toss the lay up,
Just dunk it,
Be like Shaq,
Heck,
Be like Tim Duncan.

Never running away from the tap in,
I stay steady with the flow just rapping,
Wrapping these burgers and giving out fries,
Oh my lord, it’s quite a time to be alive.
